Easter camping trip 2010

Easter Bunny or Easter dog??

Pictures are of our camping spot...Easter sunrise on a cloudy day..and looking toward I-40 and our camper...which is now stationary..
We so needed a camping trip...I had been facing depression since my Mom and passed and I missed both her and Dad...having taken care of them both for over 10 years then the neighbors moved...It was like I had no family...So I told my husband we were going camping for Easter..
We were to leave on Thursday however the neighborhood had a "Goodby" cookout and "Welcome" to both the old neighbors and the new ones..We were extremely close to the old ones but I finally faced acceptance after they would not load me in their pod after I got in there about 3 times (LOL) It was good and I told Pam that Life is constantly changing and you have to accept the changes that come with it..

We headed out on Friday and yes I felt the depression as I sat working my Sukudo puzzles..
however once we got there and sat up camp I began to forget my problems and started enjoying the trip..I think Friday was taken up setting up camp and getting everything out...adjusting the Satellite etc
We were both dead tired and went to bed pretty early..
On Saturday we spent most of the day looking for a way to get our water container back and forth to the water that is close to the restrooms..Our lot has electric, and a septic tank but no water..well we found out Checotah is not like OKC you have to drive around until you find it..
we found a little trailer but the ball would not fit our hitch and we could not find a 2" ball so our neighbor lent us his water and when we get back we will get our trailer taken care of..
Saturday afternoon I got a Phone call from a dear lady in our Sunday school class saying they were thinking of us...that really made me feel good..to know others understand and care..
We made several trips to Wal-mart for stuff and I found myself eating candy Easter eggs in the parking lot (something Mom and I used to do together but then some traditions never die out)
Saturday evening I also got a Phone call from one of my stitching friends...everyone else had gone to sleep (including the dogs) but we laughed and giggled for about 15 minutes...Always great to hear from friends who are thinking of us..
On Sunday I got a text message from another frined...wishing us a Happy Easter...so many friends to be Thankful for...
While camping I met a 79 yr old man name of Tom Martin...He was so nice and had just lost his little dog..I sat with him a long time and just spent some time with him..his wife was ill and did not camp with him so he just needed a frined..

Our dogs also made friends with the neighbor dogs (Whitie and Biggie) all four dogs are about the same size and Biggie tried getting into our camper with Peanut and Babe..LOL
We also made friends with a couple fixing up their lot two lots down from us their names are
Brenda and Richard and we got along really well...
We talked a long time...
It was a great week-end and we enjoyed ourselves..I feel like we will have a terrific summer and our next trip will probably be Mothers Day week-end (another tough time for me)...I told John (our next door neighbor) after Biggie tried to get in my lap looks like his dogs will have to send me a Mothers Day card just like my two do...VBG..

Holidays from now on

Our neighbors whom we spent all the Holidays with are moving
That threw me into a slight depression a few weeks back however my "Girlfriends" helped get me through the little hurdle and assured me I was a Normal daughter missing her "mommy" LOL
So we are trying our best to adjust to life with only the two of us...I don't know too many couples like us who have no children nor relatives as ours won't contact us at all and I have tried to contact them but failed...I just recently bought a Pine Mtn SistersPillow to stitch and send to my sister for just a present!!So I have decided during this first year to NOT celebrate Holidays...For Easter we are going camping...No Ham dinner (Mom always liked Ham) I will take my favorite chocolate Easter eggs (cannot live without my chocolate) and my stitching and have a good week-end..I definately do not want to go to church in the crowd and see other families..
On Mothers Day (My worse since we have no children) another camping trip...I always honored my Mom by taking her to church however she made sure everyone knew she was the Mother and I was the child and we had no children...(Gotta love those Sr Citizens)Plans are to crochet a potholder as my Mom taught me to crochet then give it to someone to whom looks like the need a hug along the road...My neighbor I stitched a Heinzeit and Placed it on a Pillow...I posted it to my blog..I gave it to her a few days agoFor My Moms BD (also In April) I stitched a lizzie Kate (at least I think It was Lizzie Kate or something similiar) BD cakepattern and placed it in an ornament Holder and put my Moms BD on it and plans are to send it to Moms BD twin (not her actual twin but a lady who has the same BD and Year) they sent cards to each other every year!!I am taking it one day at a time one Holiday at a time and in the meantime downsizing my self...I have wayyyy too much baking and cookware for just two people and plans are when we get 10-15 yrs down the road to move into Independent living ourselves (Hello No cooking nor cleaning!!)Right now we have our stuff and parents stuff etc and wayyy too much stuff...Have had two garage sales but am tired of garage sales so Goodwill will get a big blessing!!

Easter 2010

OK I think I am just missing family...I think what are we going to do for Easter...We used to have Mom and Dad over for a big Ham dinner...Easter was along time ago a BIG family event...with the children having Easter egg hunts and going to church together on Sunday and a Ham dinner afterwards...then the kids grew up, family moved and soon it became my husband and I and Mom and Dad...then Dad passed and now Mom and so that only leaves the two of us...the neighbors across the street join us ocassionally but are trying to sell their house and move to Houston,TX then what??
I guess you just have to make memories for yourself..a camping trip and meeting God our under the stars, waking up to an Easter Sunrise or going out to dinner just the two of us or inviting a lonely couple to join us or inviting a single person you just have to make the most of what comes out of life and not try to understand or yearn for something different.
I may miss Mom on Easter but I wll rejoice in Gods presence.

Moms BD and Easter 2009

My Moms BD is April 12 (or should I say was...as I am only writting memories) anyways last year her BD fell on Easter...
Well I took her to church as usual and after church we had invited the neighbor across the street to come over for a ham dinner..they have a little 3 yr old daughter...
I think at one point Mom and the little girl got into an argument as we heard the little girl say "NO..My mom taught me not to talk like that.." anyways we all sat down to eat and were sharing a really good meal together and out of the blue Mom said "You know I don't remember when the last time Easter fell on a Sunday!!" we were all trying not to break down in laughter over the comment by her...
Life is good and these are good memories.
