THANK GOD FOR PRAYING MOTHERS
BY-Nita Bourland for Mothers Day 2010
Thank God for praying Mothers
Whose Babe on Bosom lay
Praying to sustain this child
Each and every day.
Thank God for praying Mothers
Whose toddler often falls
Praying God will guide his steps
And he'll listen when God calls.
Thank God for praying Mothers
Whose prayers guide the teen
In choosing right from wrong
And help in ways unseen.
Thank God for praying Mothers
When the child is now full grown
To help in marriage and choices
To guide in ways unknown.
Thank God for praying Mothers
Who become elderly and frail
Often forgetting simple tasks
Crying to God who guides their trail.
Thank God for praying Mothers
To whom you have called on...
Whose child looks up to you in Faith
When she misses the Mother that is gone...

Somethings In Life Just Aren't Fair
Somethings In Life Just Aren't Fair
By Nita Bourland
04-14-2010
When Disappointments occur and life just isn't fair,
and it seems to be constant sorrow,
When you have Heartaches and tears,
And an inability to face a tomorrow.
When you think you have it all togeher
and it all ends upside down...
When you laugh outside
but inside is an overwhelming frown...
That is when you Let God guide your Steps
as well as your stops
It is called trusting in Him
He'll never let you drop..
That is when you realize HE is all you need
You look up above
And Trust His guidance
And bask in His amazing LOVE!!!
God has not promised,
Joy all the time
But He has promised Life through it all
And Peace so Divine!!!

The Dad that I Adore
This is the Poem I wrote for Dads Funeral
The Dad that I Adore
By Nita Bourland
10-08-08
He was young and strong,
and could fix anything.
Always teaching me right from wrong,
He was the Dad that I Adored.
As I grew older so did he
At my Wedding he gave me away
Always helping me husband and me,
He was the Dad that I Adored.
When elder age came so fast
Going out for breakfast
Was how our time would often pass,
He was the Dad that I Adored.
Mom tried to care for dad,
Likewise so did we,
Seeing him fall as ever so sad,
He was the Dad that I Adored.
Placing him in nursing care
Was a very heartbreaking time
Sometimes Life just isn't fair,
He was the Dad that I Adored.
He is pain free at last
He loved us until the end,
Rest in peace, your free at last,
He will always be the Dad that I Adored.

Shopping with Mom
Shopping With Mom
By Nita Bourland
12-12-2009
It must’ve all started
In the penny candy store
I would look up at you
and kindly hollar "MORE!"
Then as we grew it was T G & Y
and Hobby Lobby of course,
We’d tote in lots of bargains
and tell Dad..."It could’ve been worse!"
We’d shop for Easter dresses
Trying on clothes together
You were my shopping buddy
In all kinds of weather.
Then every other Thursday
Off to the grocery store we’ld go
Taking tons of coupons
Reaching bargains high and low.
But I’ll never forget
Our last shopping trip
It was for Christmas presents
and I Had your shopping list.
As I wheeled your chair around
Many smiles I would see,
And a lovely lady said...
"Makes me wish my Mom were with Me!!"
Even though I’ll now shop alone,
I’ll always have you near
As I hear you’re voice tell me..."better buy it now,"
"It may not be on sale next year!!"

My Elderly Parents
My Elderly Parents
by Nita Bourland
I walked along with my Dad
and Looked into his withered eyes,
As I help him walk I begin to think
Just how fast time flies...
It was just yesterday in the park
We were eating tamales and Playing ball,
Instead of me helping him up
After each and every fall.
And My Mom who now forgets
What I have said and why,
Used to be my daily guide
Soothing my every cry.
We shared Chocolate Easter Eggs
As we shopped each and every store,
Now it seems her walk is unsteady
Across the Kitchen floor.
The computer to them seems useless,
As my heart breaks for them each night
They'll never know the friends I've found
And the encouragement from this site.
I want to help them all I can
Because if the truth be known,
I will someday be like them
Aged, withered and worn...
